Dilin, etnik veya mill\u00ee kimli\u011fin \u00f6nemli bir bile\u015feni oldu\u011funu uzun uzun a\u00e7\u0131klamaya gerek yok. \u00d6zellikle ulus-devletin tarih sahnesine \u00e7\u0131kmas\u0131yla birlikte, dil, ulus-devletin istedi\u011fi kimli\u011fi istedi\u011fi \u015fekilde yaratma amac\u0131 do\u011frultusunda kontrol etmeyi hedefledi\u011fi \u00f6nemli alanlardan biri oldu. Ulus-devIetler dil ve kimlik politikalar\u0131n\u0131 bilin\u00e7li \u015fekilde olu\u015fturup yukar\u0131dan a\u015fa\u011f\u0131 do\u011fru toplumun t\u00fcm kesimlerine yaymaya \u00e7al\u0131\u015f\u0131rlar. Bunun amac\u0131, belli bir kimli\u011fi \u00f6ne \u00e7\u0131kar\u0131p bask\u0131n h\u00e2le getirirken di\u011ferlerini zay\u0131f d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcrmektir. T\u00fcrkiye Cumhuriyeti de bir ulus-devlet olarak bunun istisnas\u0131 de\u011fildir. \u00d6rne\u011fin Cumhuriyet\u2019in ilk y\u0131llar\u0131nda, \u2018az\u0131nl\u0131k\u2019 tabir edilen gruplar\u0131n kendi aralar\u0131nda T\u00fcrk\u00e7e konu\u015fmamalar\u0131 devleti ve T\u00fcrk\u00e7\u00fc kesimleri rahats\u0131z etmi\u015fti. 1928 y\u0131l\u0131ndan itibaren \u2018Vatanda\u015f T\u00fcrk\u00e7e konu\u015f\u2019 kampanyalar\u0131, daha do\u011frusu s\u00fcrek avlar\u0131 ba\u015flat\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131. \u0130\u015f, tramvayda, vapurda T\u00fcrk\u00e7e konu\u015fmayanlar\u0131, mal\u0131n\u0131 T\u00fcrk\u00e7e satmayan zerzevat\u00e7\u0131lar\u0131 d\u00f6vmeye kadar vard\u0131. Bug\u00fcn, Ermeni, Rum ve Yahudilere y\u00f6nelik \u2018Vatanda\u015f T\u00fcrk\u00e7e konu\u015f\u2019 kampanyas\u0131 yok ama bunun sebebi, b\u00f6yle kampanyalar\u0131n ahlaken ve siyaseten yanl\u0131\u015f bulunmas\u0131 de\u011fil, kampanyan\u0131n amac\u0131na ula\u015fm\u0131\u015f olmas\u0131d\u0131r. Bug\u00fcn bu t\u00fcr kampanyalar\u0131n hedefi olacak kadar Ermeni, Rum ve Yahudi varl\u0131\u011f\u0131 kalmad\u0131, kalanlar da zaten aralar\u0131nda b\u00fcy\u00fck \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcde T\u00fcrk\u00e7e konu\u015fur. Yani, Cumhuriyet bu insanlara T\u00fcrk\u00e7e konu\u015fturarak bir \u2018\u00fclk\u00fc\u2019s\u00fcn\u00fc daha ba\u015farm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Sosyal hayat\u0131nda kulland\u0131\u011f\u0131n dili ya\u015fatmak i\u00e7in fazladan bir \u00e7abaya gerek yoktur, \u00e7\u00fcnk\u00fc s\u00fcregelen canl\u0131 bir sosyal hayat o dilin en \u00f6nemli kayna\u011f\u0131d\u0131r ve destek\u00e7isidir zaten. Sosyal taban\u0131 kalmam\u0131\u015f dil, k\u00f6klerini salaca\u011f\u0131 yeterli toprak olmayan bir a\u011faca benzetilebilir ama saks\u0131daki bonzai a\u011fac\u0131 gibidir, \u00f6lmese de b\u00fcy\u00fcyemez. Ermeni dilini bilin\u00e7li m\u00fcdahaleyle koruma \u00e7abas\u0131, sosyal olarak bir \u015feylerin aksad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n g\u00f6stergesi.<\/p>\n<p>T\u00fcm bu s\u00f6ylediklerim bir dilin geli\u015fmesi i\u00e7in okulun veya formel e\u011fitimin \u00f6nemini ink\u00e2r etmek anlam\u0131na gelmez. Bir dilin, bilimsel, akademik ve edeb\u00ee d\u00fczlemde geli\u015febilmesi i\u00e7in o dilde e\u011fitim hayati \u00f6neme sahiptir. Sosyal hayat, dili ya\u015fat\u0131r ama kapasitesini geli\u015ftirmesi tek ba\u015f\u0131na zordur. Orada i\u015fte okul devreye girer.<br \/>\nBaz\u0131lar\u0131n\u0131n akl\u0131na \u015fu soru da gelebilir: \u201cMadem Ermeniceyi destekleyecek bir sosyal hayat kalmad\u0131, o zaman okullardaki Ermenice dersleri de bo\u015funa m\u0131, yap\u0131lmas\u0131n m\u0131?\u201d Tabii ki hay\u0131r.
