Apostolik delege ve Lazarist din adamlar\u0131, ma\u00eeyetlerindeki alt\u0131 bin Hristiyanla birlikte Frans\u0131z delegasyonuna ait Katolik kilisesinin bah\u00e7esine s\u0131\u011f\u0131nm\u0131\u015f, I. D\u00fcnya Sava\u015f\u0131\u2019n\u0131n yaratt\u0131\u011f\u0131 ko\u015fullara ba\u011fl\u0131 olarak silahlanm\u0131\u015f akt\u00f6rlerin kaotikle\u015ftirdi\u011fi b\u00f6lgedeki yerel ve ulusal g\u00fc\u00e7lerin m\u00fctarekesini beklemektedir. Bu arada Te\u015fkilat-\u0131 Mahs\u00fbsa\u2019dan Ru\u015feni (Bark\u0131n) Bey gibi derin \u0130ttihat\u00e7\u0131lar\u0131n cirit att\u0131\u011f\u0131 b\u00f6lgede, b\u00fcy\u00fck k\u0131sm\u0131 Kas\u0131mlo Deresi\u2019nde konu\u015flanm\u0131\u015f Halil Pa\u015fa komutas\u0131ndaki Osmanl\u0131 kuvvetleri, kimi Azeri ve K\u00fcrt milislerle birlikte Kirman\u015fah ve K\u00fcrdistan\u2019\u0131n i\u00e7 b\u00f6lgelerine do\u011fru hareket halinde olan S\u00fcryani-Nasturileri, \u0130ran merkez h\u00fck\u00fbmetinin talebi \u00fczerine takiptedir. G\u00fcnlerden cumartesidir. I\u015f\u0131k a\u011f\u0131r aksak do\u011fudan y\u00fckselmeye ba\u015flarken, huzura a\u00e7\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131 san\u0131lan sabah\u0131n sessizli\u011fi, ans\u0131z\u0131n patlayan mavzer fi\u015fe\u011finin tiz sesiyle bozulmu\u015ftur. Kalabal\u0131k ne oldu\u011funu anlamaya \u00e7al\u0131\u015f\u0131rken, i\u00e7lerinden karakalpakl\u0131 birisi yere y\u0131\u011f\u0131l\u0131r. Nereden ate\u015flendi\u011fi belli olmayan k\u00f6r kur\u015fun o g\u00fcn bir isyan liderini ya da silahl\u0131 bir militan\u0131 de\u011fil, bilim tarihinin en \u00fcretken kalemlerinden birini, M\u0101r T\u016bma \u014cdo\u2019yu (Thomas Audo) hedef alm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Bu suikast, ayn\u0131 y\u0131l\u0131n mart ay\u0131nda \u0130smail A\u011fa-yi Simko\u2019nun askerlerinden \u201cbirilerine\u201d ihale edilmi\u015f Patrik M\u0101r Benyamin \u015eim\u00fbn suikastinden [1] sonra b\u00f6lgedeki S\u00fcryani din adamlar\u0131n\u0131 hedef alm\u0131\u015f ikinci b\u00fcy\u00fck suikast olarak kay\u0131tlara ge\u00e7er.<\/p>\n<p>M\u0101r T\u016bma \u014cdo 1853 y\u0131l\u0131nda Musul\u2019un kuzeyindeki Elku\u015f \u015fehrinde S\u00fcryani-Keldani bir ailede d\u00fcnyaya gelmi\u015fti. \u014cdo ailesi, Ortado\u011fu\u2019nun Keldani Katolik S\u00fcryanilerine bir\u00e7ok bilgili ve y\u00fcksek r\u00fctbeli din adam\u0131 yeti\u015ftirmi\u015f bir aileydi. \u00d6rne\u011fin T\u016bma\u2019n\u0131n karde\u015fi \u0130srail \u014cdo, 1909 y\u0131l\u0131nda bar\u0131\u015f diyar\u0131 anlam\u0131na gelen \u00dbr\u015fin\u00e2 (Turabdin\/Mardin b\u00f6lgesi) Metropoliti olarak kilise taraf\u0131ndan g\u00f6revlendirilmi\u015f, 1914 y\u0131l\u0131ndaki Sayfo g\u00fcnlerinde ise \u00dbr\u015fin\u00e2\u2019y\u0131 terk etmek zorunda kalm\u0131\u015f \u00f6nemli bir din adam\u0131yd\u0131.<\/p>\n<p>T\u016bma \u014cdo, ilk e\u011fitimine Elku\u015f S\u00fcryani kiliselerinde ba\u015flam\u0131\u015f ard\u0131ndan Musul\u2019daki \u00c2ba Dominik Okulunda e\u011fitimini s\u00fcrd\u00fcrm\u00fc\u015ft\u00fc. 1869 y\u0131l\u0131nda on alt\u0131 ya\u015f\u0131ndayken amcas\u0131 Patrik M\u0101r Y\u014dsep \u014cdo (1790-1878) ile birlikte teoloji okumak \u00fczere Roma\u2019ya gitmi\u015f ve toplam on bir y\u0131l burada din e\u011fitimi alm\u0131\u015ft\u0131. 1880 y\u0131l\u0131na kadar Roma\u2019da kalan \u014cdo, amcas\u0131n\u0131n yard\u0131mc\u0131s\u0131 olarak Musul\u2019a d\u00f6nd\u00fc\u011f\u00fcnde sistemli din e\u011fitimini tamamlam\u0131\u015f bir rahipti art\u0131k. 1882 y\u0131l\u0131nda kilise taraf\u0131ndan Halep\u2019e yollanm\u0131\u015ft\u0131. D\u00f6rt y\u0131l s\u00fcreyle burada Patrik temsilcisi olarak g\u00f6rev yapm\u0131\u015f ve ard\u0131ndan Musul\u2019a d\u00f6nerek Patrikhane Ruhban Merkezi\u2019nin ba\u015f\u0131na ge\u00e7mi\u015fti.\u00a04 Eyl\u00fcl 1892\u2019de kutsand\u0131ktan sonra Do\u011fu Kilisesinin merkezi konumundaki \u00dbrmiye Piskoposlu\u011funa Ba\u015fpiskopos olarak atanm\u0131\u015ft\u0131.<\/p>\n<p>Hayat\u0131n\u0131n geri kalan y\u0131llar\u0131n\u0131 \u00dbrmiye\u2019de ge\u00e7iren M\u0101r T\u016bma \u014cdo, burada en \u00fcretken y\u0131llar\u0131n\u0131 ya\u015fayacakt\u0131. Ba\u015fta teoloji ve din bilimleri olmak \u00fczere birtak\u0131m eserler vermi\u015fti. \u00d6zellikle dini adanm\u0131\u015fl\u0131k uygulamalar\u0131 \u00fczerine ruhban s\u0131n\u0131f\u0131na ve kilise sakinlerine y\u00f6nelik e\u011fitici ve y\u00f6nlendirici didaktik eserleri dikkat \u00e7ekiyordu. Bu eser de \u014cdo\u2019nun di\u011fer bir\u00e7ok eseri gibi 1895 y\u0131l\u0131nda Musul\u2019daki \u00c2ba Dominik Matbaas\u0131nda bas\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Ancak T\u016bma \u014cdo, ismi ile \u00f6zde\u015fle\u015fecek ana eserini 1897 y\u0131l\u0131nda kaleme alacakt\u0131. Bu eser iki ciltlik olduk\u00e7a hacimli S\u00fcryanice bir s\u00f6zl\u00fckt\u00fc. Eserin S\u00fcryanice,\u00a0<em>\u201cSimt\u0101 d-le\u0161\u0161\u0101n\u0101 Sury\u0101y\u0101\u201d\u00a0<\/em>yani\u00a0<em>\u201cS\u00fcryani Dilinin Hazinesi\u201d\u00a0<\/em>ad\u0131n\u0131 ta\u015f\u0131yan bir ana ba\u015fl\u0131\u011f\u0131 vard\u0131. \u0130lk cildi 1897\u2019de ikinci cildi ise 1901\u2019de bas\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131. S\u00f6zl\u00fc\u011f\u00fc, Do\u011fu S\u00fcryanice alfabesiyle haz\u0131rlam\u0131\u015f olan \u014cdo, her iki cildi de \u00c2ba Dominik Matbaas\u0131nda bast\u0131rm\u0131\u015ft\u0131. Birinci cildin Latince kapa\u011f\u0131nda\u00a0<em>\u201cDictionnaire de la langue Chald\u00eaenne\u201d\u00a0<\/em>\u015feklinde yard\u0131mc\u0131 bir Frans\u0131zca ba\u015fl\u0131k kullan\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131. Ancak bu Frans\u0131zca ba\u015fl\u0131ktaki \u201cKeldani\u201d ifadesi S\u00fcryanice yaz\u0131lan birincil ba\u015fl\u0131kta yer alm\u0131yordu. \u0130ki ba\u015fl\u0131k aras\u0131ndaki farkl\u0131 isimlendirme, S\u00fcryanice\u00a0ile\u00a0Keldanice aras\u0131nda fark oldu\u011funu g\u00f6stermek i\u00e7in birileri taraf\u0131ndan kas\u0131tl\u0131 konmu\u015f ve bu durum sonraki y\u0131llarda eserle ilgili \u00e7e\u015fitli \u00e7eki\u015fme noktalar\u0131ndan biri haline gelmi\u015fti. Lakin bu tart\u0131\u015fma ha kel Hasan ha Hasan kel tart\u0131\u015fmas\u0131ndan \u00f6te bir \u015fey de\u011fildi. Zira her dilde g\u00f6z\u00fcken leh\u00e7e, \u015five, a\u011f\u0131z ve aksan farkl\u0131l\u0131klar\u0131 S\u00fcryanicede de mevcuttu. Do\u011fu ve Bat\u0131 olarak iki ana diyalekti\u011fe ayr\u0131lan S\u00fcryanicenin Do\u011fu leh\u00e7esine halk aras\u0131nda \u201cKeldanice\u201d ya da \u201cAsurice\u201d Bat\u0131 leh\u00e7esine ise salt \u201cS\u00fcryanice\u201d denmekte ve her iki leh\u00e7edeki (\u0101 ve \u014d sesleri) g\u00f6z ard\u0131 edilirse, S\u00fcryanicenin bu iki b\u00fcy\u00fck leh\u00e7esi aras\u0131nda belirgin bir fark olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131 g\u00f6r\u00fclecekti. O tarihten sonra Irak, \u0130ran, T\u00fcrkiye, Suriye, L\u00fcbnan gibi Ortado\u011fu \u00fclkelerinde ayn\u0131 \u015fekilde Avrupa ve ABD\u2019de haz\u0131rlanan S\u00fcryanice s\u00f6zl\u00fcklerin neredeyse tamam\u0131na kaynakl\u0131k edecekti. \u00d6rne\u011fin\u00a0<em>\u201cSvensk Assyrisk Ordbok\u201d<\/em>\u00a0s\u00f6zl\u00fc\u011f\u00fcn\u00fc haz\u0131rlam\u0131\u015f olan Gabriel Afram, kendi s\u00f6zl\u00fck \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmas\u0131nda, \u201cYolumu Ayd\u0131nlatan T\u016bma\u2019ya\u2026\u201d diyerek \u014cdo\u2019nun s\u00f6zl\u00fc\u011f\u00fcn\u00fcn \u00f6nemini daha ilk sayfada ortaya koyacakt\u0131. Ayn\u0131 \u015fekilde yeni S\u00fcryani\u00a0dili ve edebiyat\u0131 \u00fczerine \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131 olan Slovak dilbilimci Rudolf Macuch (1919-1993) da s\u00f6zl\u00fc\u011f\u00fc ger\u00e7ek bir inci olarak betimleyecek, M\u0101r T\u016bma\u2019y\u0131 da \u201cYeni S\u00fcryanice edebiyat\u0131n\u0131n babas\u0131, modern S\u00fcryanice gramer ve s\u00f6zl\u00fckbilimdeki en yerli otorite\u201d olarak an\u0131lmaya lay\u0131k g\u00f6recekti.<\/p>\n<p>S\u00f6z konusu s\u00f6zl\u00fck d\u0131\u015f\u0131nda M\u0101r T\u016bma\u2019n\u0131n, dilbilgisi ve gramer \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131 da olmu\u015ftu. S\u00fcryanice grameri alan\u0131ndaki en \u00f6nemli kitab\u0131, diasporada s\u0131kl\u0131kla bas\u0131lan\u00a0yerel Aramice dilbilgisi kitab\u0131yd\u0131.\u00a0<em>\u201cKt\u0101b\u0101 d-gr\u0101m\u0101t\u012bq\u012b d-li\u0161\u0101n\u0101 sw\u0101d\u0101y\u0101\u201d\u00a0<\/em>adl\u0131 bu eser, I. D\u00fcnya Sava\u015f\u0131\u2019ndan sonra Do\u011fu S\u00fcryani toplulu\u011funun da\u011f\u0131ld\u0131ktan ve kurumlar\u0131n\u0131n b\u00fcy\u00fck \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcde zarar g\u00f6rmesinden sonra bile, S\u00fcryani dilbilgisinin korunmas\u0131nda son derece etkili olmu\u015f bir eserdi. Gramer ve dilbilgisi eserleri aras\u0131nda en \u00f6nemlilerinden birisi de \u201cSe\u00e7ilmi\u015f Okumalar\u201d anlam\u0131na gelen\u00a0<em>\u201cQary\u0101n\u0113 G\u014dby\u0113\u201d<\/em>\u00a0adl\u0131 eseriydi. 1906 y\u0131l\u0131nda kaleme ald\u0131\u011f\u0131 bu eserinde \u014cdo, Aramice\u00a0dilindeki\u00a0leh\u00e7e varyasyonlar\u0131n\u0131n,\u00a0<em>\u201c\u0100t\u014dr\u0101y\u0113 \/ \u0100th\u016br\u0101y\u0101\u201d\u00a0<\/em>ad\u0131nda \u201cd\u00f6n\u00fc\u015f\u201d\u00a0anlam\u0131na gelen fonetik birtak\u0131m g\u00f6r\u00fc\u015flerle tashih edilmesi fikrini ortaya atm\u0131\u015ft\u0131. Onun bu g\u00f6r\u00fc\u015f\u00fcne g\u00f6re; S\u00fcryanicenin eski formunun g\u00f6zden ge\u00e7irilmesi ve kimi ba\u011flant\u0131lar\u0131n\u0131n reforme edilmesi gerekiyordu.<\/p>\n<p>T\u016bma \u014cdo, dini i\u00e7erikli eserleri, s\u00f6zl\u00fck ve gramer \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131 d\u0131\u015f\u0131nda, modern S\u00fcryani edebiyat\u0131nda \u00f6nemli yer tutan bir dizi \u00e7eviriler\u00a0de \u00fcretmi\u015fti. 1909 y\u0131l\u0131nda La Fontaine\u00a0Masallar\u0131n\u0131 modern S\u00fcryaniceye \u00e7evirmeden \u00f6nce 1895 y\u0131l\u0131nda \u00e7evirdi\u011fi\u00a0<em>\u201cKel\u00eele ve Dimne\u201d<\/em>\u00a0ile fabl hikayelere ilham kayna\u011f\u0131 olmu\u015f bu eseri bir anlamda asl\u0131na ruc\u00fb ettirmi\u015fti. Zira\u00a0<em>Kel\u00eele ve Dimne<\/em>, 560 y\u0131l\u0131nda Hint\u00e7eden \u00f6nce Pehleviceye aktar\u0131lm\u0131\u015f, yakla\u015f\u0131k on y\u0131l sonra da B\u00fbd isimli bir S\u00fcryani taraf\u0131ndan S\u00fcryaniceye \u00e7evrilmi\u015fti. Dolays\u0131yla \u014cdo,\u00a0<em>Kel\u00eele ve Dimne<\/em>\u2019yi y\u00fczy\u0131llar sonra modern S\u00fcryaniceye \u00e7evirerek, asl\u0131nda bu eseri hak edildi\u011fi yerle bulu\u015fturmu\u015f, Ortado\u011fu\u2019daki pek \u00e7ok halk\u0131n edebiyat\u0131nda oldu\u011fu gibi S\u00fcryani edebiyat\u0131ndaki \u00f6nemini de ortaya koymu\u015ftu. \u014cdo,\u00a0<em>Kel\u00eele ve Dimne<\/em>\u00a0terc\u00fcmesini \u0130bn\u00fc\u2019l-Mukaffa\u2019n\u0131n (\u00f6. 759) Arap\u00e7a versiyonu ile kadim S\u00fcryanice versiyonlar\u0131n\u0131 kar\u015f\u0131la\u015ft\u0131rarak \u00e7evirmi\u015fti. Bu arada Nasrullah Mun\u015f\u00ee\u2019nin (\u00f6. 781?) Fars\u00e7a n\u00fcshas\u0131n\u0131 da g\u00f6z \u00f6n\u00fcnde bulundurmu\u015ftu.
