Olduk\u00e7a \u00f6zenli ve kapsaml\u0131 bir ara\u015ft\u0131rman\u0131n sonucu olarak yazd\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131z ve annenize ithaf etti\u011finiz bu kitab\u0131n do\u011fu\u015f hik\u00e2yesini payla\u015f\u0131r m\u0131s\u0131n\u0131z? \u0130zmir\u2019in en eski yerle\u015fiklerinden biri olan \u0130zmir Yahudi Cemaati\u2019nin eski mahallesi, Birinci Juderia\u2019y\u0131 yazmaya nas\u0131l karar verdiniz?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bu kitab\u0131n yaz\u0131m fikri, \u0130zmir Musevi Cemaati Vakf\u0131 Ba\u015fkan\u0131 Say\u0131n Sami Azar\u2019a aittir. Bir y\u0131l \u00f6nce, Sami Azar beni davet ederek \u0130zmir Yahudilerinin sosyal, k\u00fclt\u00fcrel ve ekonomik tarihine ili\u015fkin kitap yaz\u0131lmas\u0131 fikrini vak\u0131f olarak desteklediklerini anlatt\u0131 ve ilk kitab\u0131 benim yazmam\u0131 teklif etti. Vak\u0131f \u00fcyelerine, hakk\u0131nda ara\u015ft\u0131rma yap\u0131labilecek konu \u00f6nerilerinde bulundum. Bu d\u00f6nemi kitab\u0131m\u0131n giri\u015f b\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcnde k\u0131saca anlatt\u0131m. Birinci Juderia\u2019n\u0131n kurulu\u015f tarihi ise, 16. y\u00fczy\u0131l\u0131n son \u00e7eyre\u011fidir. Avrupa kentlerinden gemilerle gelen mallar ise, \u0130zmir Liman\u0131nda karaya \u00e7\u0131kar\u0131l\u0131p kervanlara y\u00fcklenmekte ve karadan gidece\u011fi b\u00f6lgelere ula\u015ft\u0131r\u0131lmaktayd\u0131. K\u0131sacas\u0131 \u0130zmir, Osmanl\u0131 Devleti\u2019nin hem ihracat hem de ithalat liman\u0131 olarak y\u00fckseli\u015fteydi. Cemaat ne zaman ve nerede kuruldu; g\u00f6\u00e7lerin nas\u0131l bir etkisi oldu?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00d6ncelikle \u015funu belirtmek isterim. Osmanl\u0131 d\u00f6neminde kurulan \u0130zmir Yahudi Cemaati, tamamen nevi \u015fahs\u0131na m\u00fcnhas\u0131rd\u0131r. Ne \u0130stanbul, ne Selanik, ne de Edirne Yahudi Cemaatlerine benzer. \u201cNedir farkl\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131?\u201d diye soracak olursan\u0131z sayay\u0131m: \u00d6ncelikle \u0130zmir Yahudileri, kente Osmanl\u0131\u2019n\u0131n s\u00fcrg\u00fcn (zorunlu g\u00f6\u00e7 ya da zorunlu isk\u00e2n) politikas\u0131yla gelip yerle\u015fmemi\u015fti. Yahudi g\u00f6\u00e7menler, daha iyi ko\u015fullarda ya\u015famak \u00fcmidiyle \u0130zmir\u2019e yerle\u015fmeyi kendi iradeleriyle tercih etmi\u015flerdi. \u0130kinci olarak \u0130zmir Yahudi Cemaati, \u00e7ok farkl\u0131 co\u011frafyalardan gelen g\u00f6\u00e7men Yahudiler taraf\u0131ndan kurulmu\u015f; g\u00f6\u00e7lerle beslenip b\u00fcy\u00fcm\u00fc\u015f ve g\u00f6\u00e7lerle k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fclm\u00fc\u015ft\u00fc. Farkl\u0131 co\u011frafya derken dikkati \u00e7ekmek istedi\u011fim b\u00f6lge, Kuzey Afrika ve Ortado\u011fu kentlerinden, Anadolu\u2019ya; Akdeniz ve Ege Adalar\u0131ndan Balkanlara, \u0130spanya\u2019ya, Portekiz\u2019e hatta \u0130ngiltere\u2019ye kadar uzanmaktad\u0131r. Ba\u015fka bir \u015fekilde izah edeyim: Antik D\u00f6nem\u2019den gelen Anadolulu Romaniotlar, sonra gelen Mizrahiler, A\u015fkenazlar, hatta belki de Karayitler ve Sefaradlardan olu\u015fan bir cemaattir s\u00f6z\u00fcn\u00fc etti\u011fim \u0130zmir Yahudi Cemaati. Bu y\u00fczden, son derece zengin bir k\u00fclt\u00fcr mozai\u011fine sahiptir. \u00dc\u00e7\u00fcnc\u00fc ve \u00f6nemli fark ise, bunca de\u011fi\u015fik co\u011frafyadan gelen g\u00f6\u00e7menlerin varl\u0131\u011f\u0131na ra\u011fmen, \u0130zmir Yahudileri \u00e7ok say\u0131da kahale (cemaate) b\u00f6l\u00fcn\u00fcp par\u00e7alanmam\u0131\u015ft\u0131.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bizi tarihte bir yolculu\u011fa \u00e7\u0131kart\u0131r m\u0131s\u0131n\u0131z? Birinci Judeira nas\u0131l bir yerdi? 17. ve 18. y\u00fczy\u0131llarda Birinci Juderia\u2019n\u0131n cadde ve sokaklar\u0131 nas\u0131ld\u0131?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>17. ve 18. y\u00fczy\u0131llarda M\u00fcsl\u00fcman T\u00fcrk, Rum, Ermeni ve Yahudiler kentin Kadifekale s\u0131rtlar\u0131nda oturmaya devam etmekteydi. M\u00fctevaz\u0131 konutlar\u0131n yer ald\u0131\u011f\u0131 d\u00fczensiz bir yap\u0131ya sahip olan M\u00fcsl\u00fcman T\u00fcrk, Yahudi, Ermeni ve Rum mahallelerinde evler, dar ve k\u0131vr\u0131ml\u0131 yollar \u00fczerinde in\u015fa edilmi\u015fti. 18. y\u00fczy\u0131lda, b\u00fcy\u00fck bir h\u0131zla artmaya ba\u015flayan Yahudi n\u00fcfus ile birlikte Birinci Juderia, \u0130ki\u00e7e\u015fmelik yolunun iki cephesine do\u011fru yay\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131. Ama bu yay\u0131lma, kentin 16. y\u00fczy\u0131ldan beri korunan \u00fc\u00e7gen formunun d\u0131\u015f\u0131na ta\u015fmam\u0131\u015ft\u0131. 17. y\u00fczy\u0131lda, Frenk Soka\u011f\u0131nda yer alan evler hari\u00e7, \u0130zmir\u2019in ve \u0130zmir Yahudilerinin evlerinin b\u00fcy\u00fck bir b\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fc kerpi\u00e7ti. 18. y\u00fczy\u0131lda ise, kerpicin yerini ah\u015fap alm\u0131\u015ft\u0131. Evlerin ah\u015faptan in\u015fa edilme nedeni ise, deprem korkusuydu. Birinci Juderia\u2019da evler, girintili \u00e7\u0131k\u0131nt\u0131l\u0131, iki katl\u0131 ya da biraz daha y\u00fcksek in\u015fa edilmekteydi. Daha y\u00fcksek olan yap\u0131lar, muhtemelen kortijolard\u0131. \u00c7at\u0131lar\u0131 ise sa\u00e7akl\u0131 ve birbirine biti\u015fikti. \u0130zmir\u2019in hemen her evinde oldu\u011fu gibi Yahudi evlerinde de ihtiya\u00e7 duyuldu\u011fu zaman g\u00fcne\u015ften yararlanabilmek i\u00e7in birer teras mevcuttu. Evlerin aras\u0131ndaki sokaklar ise \u00e7ok dar ve y\u0131lankavidir (dolamba\u00e7l\u0131d\u0131r). Sokaklar\u0131n geni\u015fli\u011fi 2 \u2013 4 ar\u015f\u0131n aras\u0131d\u0131r.
