Babas\u0131 Apig \u00fcnl\u00fc bir avukatt\u0131 ve annesi (ne yaz\u0131k ki ad\u0131n\u0131 bilmiyoruz) piyano \u00e7alan e\u011fitimli bir kad\u0131nd\u0131.\u00a0Dede Harutyun Zoryan ise Trabzon\u2019un tan\u0131nm\u0131\u015f t\u00fcccarlar\u0131ndand\u0131. Zaman\u0131nda son derece ilerici de\u011ferlere sahip olan Harutyun iki o\u011flu Apik ve Yervant\u2019\u0131n \u00fcniversite e\u011fitimi almas\u0131n\u0131 sa\u011flad\u0131. B\u00fcy\u00fck o\u011flu Apik\u2019in avukat oldu\u011funu g\u00f6recek kadar ya\u015fad\u0131, ancak 1895\u2019te II. Abd\u00fclhamid\u2019in emriyle Hamidiye birlikleri taraf\u0131ndan k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck o\u011flu Yervant\u2019\u0131n gelece\u011fini g\u00f6remeden \u00f6ld\u00fcr\u00fcld\u00fc. Yervant ise 1920\u2019lerde Halep Devleti\u2019nin k\u0131demli ba\u015f muhasebecisi ve sayman\u0131 oldu ve 1943\u2019te emekli olana kadar \u00e7al\u0131\u015ft\u0131. Ermeni toplumuna, \u00f6zellikle gen\u00e7 Ermenilere g\u00fc\u00e7l\u00fc bir \u015fekilde ba\u011fl\u0131yd\u0131. Onun konumu, bir\u00e7ok yurtta\u015f\u0131na i\u015f olanaklar\u0131 a\u00e7mas\u0131n\u0131 sa\u011flad\u0131. 25 y\u0131l boyunca AGBU\u2019da \u00f6nemli g\u00f6revlerde bulundu ve 1931\u2019de Ermeni gen\u00e7leri aras\u0131nda e\u011fitim ve mesleki e\u011fitimi savunmaya devam eden AGBU Ermeni Gen\u00e7lik Derne\u011fi\u2019ni kurdu. 1946-1947\u2019de, da\u011f\u0131lm\u0131\u015f Ermenileri Sovyet Ermenistan\u0131\u2019na g\u00f6nderme \u00e7abalar\u0131nda \u00f6nemli bir rol oynad\u0131. A\u015fhod, \u00e7ok sonraki senelerde\u00a0Nansen pasaportunu kullanarak Halep\u2019teki amcas\u0131 Yervant\u2019\u0131 ve ailesini d\u00fczenli olarak ziyaret ederdi.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>A\u015fod iki k\u0131z karde\u015fi Araksi ve Kristina gibi, 1915\u2019teki trajik olaylara kadar yerel Ermeni Okulu\u2019na kaydoldu. Bu korkun\u00e7 olaylar s\u0131ras\u0131nda, fanatik bir T\u00fcrk g\u00fcruhu babas\u0131 Apik\u2019i evinden al\u0131p\u00a0ac\u0131mas\u0131zca \u00f6ld\u00fcr\u00fcld\u00fc\u011f\u00fc yak\u0131ndaki tepelere g\u00f6t\u00fcrd\u00fc. Bir ata bindirilip g\u00f6t\u00fcr\u00fclen baban\u0131n fig\u00fcr\u00fc, karde\u015flerin hayatlar\u0131 boyunca unutamad\u0131klar\u0131 bir kare olarak haf\u0131zalar\u0131nda kald\u0131. Ailenin geri kalan\u0131, T\u00fcrkiye\u2019nin d\u00f6rt bir yan\u0131ndaki toplam Ermeni n\u00fcfusu gibi, evlerini terk etmek zorunda kald\u0131 ve g\u00fcneye do\u011fru s\u00fcr\u00fcld\u00fc.<\/p>\n<p>\u015eebinkarahisar\u2019da bir T\u00fcrk, A\u015fod ve k\u0131z karde\u015flerinden birini sat\u0131n ald\u0131\u011f\u0131nda hen\u00fcz \u00e7ocuk ya\u015flardayd\u0131lar. K\u0131sa bir s\u00fcre sonra \u201csahipleri\u201d \u00f6ld\u00fc\u011f\u00fcnde ba\u015fka bir aile, 2 \u00e7ocu\u011fa sahiplendi ve\u00a0A\u015fod\u2019un ad\u0131n\u0131 H\u00fcseyin olarak de\u011fi\u015ftirdi. Bir s\u00fcre sonra Girasun\u2019dan gen\u00e7 bir T\u00fcrk iki karde\u015fi tan\u0131d\u0131. D\u00f6nemin yasas\u0131na g\u00f6re iki karde\u015fi sat\u0131n ald\u0131 ve Zoryan ailesinin Trabzon\u2019da bullunan mallar\u0131na el koyma umuduyla onlar\u0131 \u015fehre geri g\u00f6t\u00fcrd\u00fc. Fakat Trabzona vard\u0131klar\u0131nda t\u00fcm m\u00fclkler ya\u011fmalanm\u0131\u015ft\u0131. Mecburen tekrar geri d\u00f6nd\u00fckleri Girasun\u2019da A\u015fod ve k\u0131z karde\u015fi, Ba\u011fdatl\u0131 bir Arap subayla evli olan bir kuzenini tesad\u00fcfen buldu.\u00a0K\u0131sa s\u00fcre sonra g\u00fcvenliklerini garanti eden bu k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck aileye kat\u0131ld\u0131lar. Yeni aileleri Kayseri \u00fczerinden \u0130stanbul\u2019a ve daha sonra G\u00fcrcistan\u2019\u0131n sahil kenti Batum\u2019a ta\u015f\u0131nd\u0131lar.<\/p>\n<p>15 ya\u015f\u0131nda bir gen\u00e7 olan A\u015fod, \u015fans eseri day\u0131s\u0131 Vahan Balaryan\u2019\u0131n yak\u0131nlardaki bir \u015fehir olan Sohum\u2019da ya\u015fad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 duyar. Day\u0131 ye\u011fenlarinin hayatta olmas\u0131 sevinci ile iki genci bir d\u00f6nem yan\u0131na al\u0131r.\u00a0\u00a0Ancak 1921\u2019in ba\u015flar\u0131nda, kuzenlerinin kocas\u0131 gen\u00e7leri yan\u0131na almak ister ve\u00a0\u0130stanbul\u2019a g\u00f6t\u00fcr\u00fcr. Bu b\u00fcy\u00fck \u015fehirde A\u015fod, Ermeni Yesayan Yetimhanesine kaydolur. Yetimhanede A\u015fod\u2019un yeteneklerini \u201cke\u015ffederler\u201d ve derhal sanat e\u011fitimi almas\u0131 i\u00e7in Viyana\u2019ya g\u00f6ndermeye karar verirler. A\u015fod karde\u015fini yetimhanede b\u0131rak\u0131r ve e\u011fitim i\u00e7in Viyanaya gider. Ressam ya\u015fam\u0131n\u0131n\u00a0son d\u00f6nemlerinde iki k\u0131z karde\u015finin de Amerika\u2019da olduklar\u0131n\u0131 \u00f6\u011frendi\u011fi vakit Worcester, Massachusetts\u2019e gider, orada da\u00a0sanat eserleri yaratt\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>A\u015fod, Eyl\u00fcl 1922\u2019de vard\u0131\u011f\u0131 Viyana\u2019da\u00a0Wiener Kunstschule Sanat okulunda\u00a0\u00fc\u00e7 y\u0131l okur ve ard\u0131ndan Profes\u00f6r Umberto Coromaldi\u2019nin rehberli\u011finde Roma G\u00fczel Sanatlar Akademisi\u2019nde \u00fc\u00e7 y\u0131l daha e\u011fitim al\u0131r. Ayn\u0131 zamanda, Academie de France\u2019da Villa Medicis\u2019te (1926-1928) derslere de kat\u0131l\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>Roma\u2019da bulundu\u011fu d\u00f6nem A\u015fod Zoryan, Circolo Artistico Bienali\u2019ne kat\u0131l\u0131r. Bu sergi onun sanat \u00e7evresindeki ilk deneyimidir.\u00a01929 Eyl\u00fcl\u00fcn\u00fcn ikinci yar\u0131s\u0131nda yirmi ya\u015f\u0131nda akendi yaklar\u0131 \u00fczerine basabilen bir gen\u00e7 olarak, \u0130skenderiye\u2019ye ta\u015f\u0131nan day\u0131s\u0131 Vahan\u2019\u0131n yan\u0131na gider.<\/p>\n<p>\u0130skenderiye o zamanlar g\u00fczel bir kozmopolit sahil kentiydi. Zoryan bu \u015fehirde 12 mutlu y\u0131l ya\u015fad\u0131. \u0130lk olarak Bo\u011fosyan Ermeni Okulu\u2019nda (1941 y\u0131l\u0131na kadar) resim \u00f6\u011fretmeni olarak \u00e7al\u0131\u015ft\u0131. Ayr\u0131ca \u0130skenderiye\u2019nin y\u0131ll\u0131k sanat salonunda sanatsal eserleriyle aktif olarak yer ald\u0131.<\/p>\n<p>1939\u2019da tek ki\u015filik sergisini 6-16 \u015eubat\u2019ta Galerie Gr\u00e9goire\u2019da ger\u00e7ekle\u015ftirdi. Bu sergi b\u00fcy\u00fck bir ba\u015far\u0131yd\u0131 ve \u0130skenderiye\u2019deki ya\u015fam\u0131n\u0131n ve sanat kariyerinin doruk noktas\u0131 olarak kabul edilebilir.<\/p>\n<p>1941 y\u0131l\u0131nda Naziler, \u0130skenderiye\u2019deki \u0130ngiliz deniz \u00fcss\u00fcn\u00fc birka\u00e7 kez bombalad\u0131. Zaman zaman baz\u0131 bombalar \u015fehrin kalbine isabet etti ve y\u00fczlerce ki\u015fi \u00f6ld\u00fc. Ayr\u0131ca, eskizler \u00e7izmek i\u00e7in\u00a0zaman zaman okulunu ziyaret edenler aras\u0131nda\u00a0ressam Herant Antranikyan (1909 \u2013 1963) da bulunmaktayd\u0131.
