Ailesi, babas\u0131 annesi, bir a\u011fabeyi, \u00fc\u00e7 k\u0131z karde\u015fi ve kendisinden olu\u015fuyordu. B\u00fcy\u00fckbabas\u0131 Kumkap\u0131\u2019da bir demirciydi dolay\u0131s\u0131yla soyadlar\u0131 Demirciyand\u0131.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u0130lk e\u011fitimini Yenikap\u0131 Arakelots Ermeni Mektebinde bitirdikten sonra, \u0130stanbul\u2019da yeni kurulan G\u00fczel Sanatlar Okulu\u2019na (Mekteb-i Sanayi-i Nefise-i \u015eahane) girdi ve onur derecesiyle mezun oldu. 1893\u2019te, bir Ermeni entelekt\u00fcel olan Arshag Tchobanyan\u2019\u0131n (1872-1954) te\u015fvik ve e\u015fli\u011fi ile Paris\u2019e gitti ve ressam Jean-Paul Laurens\u2019in (1838-1921) ve ayn\u0131 zamanda \u00fcnl\u00fc oryantalist Benjamin Constant\u2019\u0131n \u00f6\u011frencisi olarak \u201cAcademie Julian\u201da kaydoldu.
